Ceraphi Energy™ And Genius Energy Lab Announce Agreement

news Ceraphi Energy™ And Genius Energy Lab Announce Agreement 14 April 2021 A new union of two market leaders will pioneer large-scale commercial geothermal heating systems to meet the challenge of reliable heating in a decarbonised world, as CeraPhi Energy™ and Genius Energy Lab (GEL) announce signing of a heads of terms agreement to deliver geothermal solutions for industrial, urban and domestic heating systems. The GEL team has designed and delivered ground source heat pump systems to the large commercial building, large residential and social housing construction supply chain for more than 20 years. CeraPhi® and GEL will now use the best practices of oil and gas and ground source expertise to fill the gap when and where wind and solar can’t meet peak demand risking outages such as those affecting millions of people in Texas earlier this year. GEL technology director Chris Davidson described CeraPHi’s proprietary CeraPhiWell™ technology – as a step change bringing the deep geothermal and ground source heat pump sectors together using deeper wells newly drilled or repurposed late life abandoned oil and gas wells to draw on heat from deep underground – as “one of the most innovative solutions” and “the next big thing” in scaling heat networks as part of the decarbonisation within the energy transition. CeraPhi Energy™ CEO Karl Farrow Said: “Heat represents a huge global challenge in the decarbonisation across industry, residential and domestic sectors because it represents a significant drain on the baseload electrical power sector when demand peaks. “ “Increasingly hotter summers and colder winters, even in the UK, are putting strain on the grid with more cooling demand especially growing in summer months. This winter, there was more heating demand across Europe. Even in places like Texas, solar and wind have clearly demonstrated limitations during peak demand.” “This alliance stands to bring about a significant step change and shift in the commercial scalability and effectiveness in the use of heat within the decarbonisation process. It also will bring wider acceptance of using heat as a direct source of energy, whether for space heating or cooling. “ “Further, it will also add baseload power into the mix, which is scalable across many industrial and domestic sectors.” GEL Managing Director Richard Davis Said: “We have developed a working model where we can analyse variables around repurposed well assets to deliver potentially huge carbon savings for decades to come.” “The CeraPhi® team’s background in the oil and gas industry and their knowledge of abandoned wells, combined with our skills in modelling of the ground, understanding of heat networks and heat pumps is already delivering some very compelling commercials.” “There is significant benefit in leveraging each other’s specialties to produce some fantastic solutions for our customers. It is a very exciting prospect.” GEL Technology Director Chris Davidson Said: “The CeraPhiWell™ technology is without doubt one of the most innovative solutions we’ve seen and we are very excited to continue our work to develop the models and pinpoint test sites to confirm our expectations. This promises to be the next big thing.” Previous PostNorfolk Geothermal Firm Launches In US With Strong Focus On TexasNext PostCeraPhi Energy Geothermal Delivery Company Adds Texas Commercial Expert About CeraPhi®  CeraPhi is a vertically integrated Geothermal Development Company with proprietary technology and a mission to unlock the thermal heat underground to deliver sustainable, continuous, and totally green 24/7 baseload energy through a “plug and Play” sustainable technology platform.  To find out more and to explore investment opportunities with CeraPhi visit www.ceraphi.com For media inquiries and further information, please contact Holly Harvey-Perdicou holly.harvey-perdicou@ceraphi.com

Norfolk Geothermal Firm Launches In US With Strong Focus On Texas

news Norfolk Geothermal Firm Launches In US With Strong Focus On Texas 02 March 2021 CeraPhi Energy, a fully integrated geothermal development company driving the next generation of geothermal energy, has incorporated in the United States and is targeting Texas, among other major geothermal prospect areas in the US. CeraPhi Energy’s mission is to unlock heat underground to deliver sustainable, continuous and totally green 24/7 baseload energy under a “plug and play” scalable technology platform. CeraPhi will use its patented technology, innovation and best practices from its oil and gas experience to fill the gap in renewables between wind, solar and other green energy production and help complete the sustainable energy picture. Its new base in Houston, Texas, puts it at the centre of a high-growth region where more than 6,200 oil and gas wells lie abandonned, representing a significant environmental and economic liability on companies. CeraPhi’s patented and trademarked CeraPhiWell™, a closed loop vertical, long-life, cost-effective technology, draws heat up from old wells, extending well life and generating clean energy for decades. The business’ focus is on heat transfer and the geothermal ‘cascade’, creating efficient off-grid energy solutions like heating and cooling for cities and districts, replacing coal and gas-fired electrical production. Repurposing old wells removes the need for costly plug and abandonment and decommissioning while supporting clean energy transition and the de-carbonisation of sites through co-generation.Ceraphi founders combine more than 130 years’ experience in oil and gas engineering, subsurface modelling and topside expertise, in-house risk mitigation and management, and both conventional open and closed loop geothermal applications. CeraPhi Energy CEO Karl Farrow, who has more than 30 years’ oil and gas experience, said: “We are extremely excited to introduce our expertise and technology in the US.“Our pipeline of projects currently covers the UK, Europe, Caribbean and Latin America, and we are viewing the US as a high growth region for the business. “Geothermal is cost-effective, secure and independent, off-grid and on-grid.”“It is never dependent on weather or influenced by external energy prices so it has a key role in the ongoing energy transition. It should be embraced by all if we are to achieve zero carbon baseload energy for electric, heat, cooling and other essential purposes,” he said. The geothermal cascade can also provide solutions for hydrogen production, power distribution, desalination, battery charging, EV charging networks, food drying and green house agriculture.Farrow said the 6,200 abandonned wells in Texas created a “significant environmental and economic liability on companies and citizens of the state.” “By one estimate as much as $117 billion dollars,” he said.”The CeraPhi well reduces cost and risk and creates productive economic value from tapping geothermal resources. Studies indicate that there are as many as four million abandoned wells in the US and Canada, and that methane emissions from these wells are a significantly underestimated environmental concern.CeraPhi technology can help resolve the environmental issues and turn the wells into productive sources of heat, cooling and electricity. “CeraPhi geothermal applications will create independent energy resources and create jobs in a rapidly transitioning industry,” Farrow said. “With its well-trained workforce, oil and gas experience, extensive infrastructure and advanced education in energy, Texas is ideal for expansion of geothermal energy. The “highly skilled, talented and focused” CeraPhi Energy team will deliver an energy source that is “non-interruptible and virtually infinite once it is tapped,” Farrow said. “Our operational excellence encompasses engineering and management, specialist subsurface and topside modelling, innovative novel approach patented systems, proprietary innovation and technology. A major focus is avoiding significant commercial risk in exploration drilling costs.” CeraPhi Energy’s CeraPhiPro™, a process management technology, coordinates project activity and operational technology, de-risking and offering proven delivery of geothermal development activity.Farrow said CeraPhi was keen to be part of the solution to the Texas energy crisis and breakdown in the state’s power network. “We recognise the unprecedented nature of what has occurred in Texas in the last few weeks, and are eager to be part of the solution. “Geothermal energy is clean base-load and non-interruptible. It creates jobs, provides economic benefit, resilience and independence. We are confident that deploying geothermal options will dramatically strengthen Texas’s role as a leading global energy producer.” Previous PostBusinesses Pool Expertise To Draw Green Energy From “Giant Battery” Earth In Geothermal RevolutionNext PostCeraphi Energy™ And Genius Energy Lab Announce Agreement About CeraPhi®  CeraPhi is a vertically integrated Geothermal Development Company with proprietary technology and a mission to unlock the thermal heat underground to deliver sustainable, continuous, and totally green 24/7 baseload energy through a “plug and Play” sustainable technology platform.  To find out more and to explore investment opportunities with CeraPhi visit www.ceraphi.com For media inquiries and further information, please contact Holly Harvey-Perdicou holly.harvey-perdicou@ceraphi.com

Businesses Pool Expertise To Draw Green Energy From “Giant Battery” Earth In Geothermal Revolution

news Businesses Pool Expertise To Draw Green Energy From “Giant Battery” Earth In Geothermal Revolution 26 January 2021 Decades of energy experience are uniting to unlock heat from deep underground to deliver large-scale commercial geothermal energy solutions. Geothermal delivery company CeraPhi Energy has teamed with specialist well engineering and project management company Fraser Well Management to deliver the ‘missing piece’ in the renewable energy jigsaw – using the earth’s heat to produce “24/7 cost-effective green geothermal energy” that can be scaled up by a modular approach. CeraPhi’s international subsurface expertise and FWM’s renowned experience in well engineering and project management will develop “game changing” geothermal energy solutions for sustainable heating and power generation in the UK, the US and Europe. Conventional Geothermal energy is not new and takes heat from the beneath the ground. Geothermal energy traditionally needs water or steam “aquifers” under the earth’s surface, where, depending on its characteristics, it can be used for heating, cooling or harnessed for clean electricity. Karl Farrow, CeraPhi® CEO, said CeraPhi’s delivery and execution process is different to the conventional geothermal approach and is targeted at modular and scalable projects for power, heating and cooling. “Our technology and approaches are about multiple scalable projects and commerciality. CeraPhi is the first fully integrated geothermal delivery company in the UK. “Geothermal is the only true baseload energy available anywhere and everywhere globally. Ninetynine percent of the earth’s volume has temperatures more than 1,000-degrees making the earth one giant battery with enough clean renewable energy to last billions of years.“Surprisingly and given that such a staggering vast amount of energy is trapped beneath our feet, only 15GW of energy is currently commercially produced from geothermal sources in the world today, equal to the daily demand of Wales.” CeraPhi’s technology approach focuses on the use of heat primarily providing combined heat and power in agriculture, industrial commercial and residential applications, in conjunction with desalination and hydrogen production. Working with FWM and their expertise in decommissioning of oil and gas assets, we have the ability to tap into existing well stock reducing the overall cost of delivery for geothermal. The repurposing in turn provides a huge cost saving to the oil and gas companies while also providing valuable support to the energy transition for oil and gas majors, supply chain and jobs.Mr Farrow said Great Yarmouth-based CeraPhi’s proprietary closed loop geothermal technology and extensive international geothermal experience and FWM’s expertise would fill the gap between wind, solar and other renewable energy production to accelerate the renewable energy transition across the UK and beyond. “There are potential projects here and in Europe. With the UK on the journey to net zero, geothermal is key. The public is looking for alternative green energy, and geothermal provides that solution. “A perception is that geothermal has to be somewhere near a volcano, like Iceland or New Zealand. That is not so. With CeraPhi’s well technology allowing the use of lower geothermal temperatures to provide power in a similar way to ground source heat pumps and on a far larger scale, this opens all parts of the world to the benefits of geothermal energy.” Nick Ford, managing director of Fraser Well Management, said the company, with bases in Great Yarmouth, Rotterdam and Aberdeen, had been looking at geothermal projects for a number of years. “We see the demand for sustainable and reliable green energy in the UK and more actively in Europe. The repurposing of wells and deep geothermal is key to delivering this goal. At Fraser Well Management, well construction and project management are key areas of the services we provide. “We see our collaboration with CeraPhi as a great opportunity to contribute our skills and experience to the energy transition, in a growing market. “We’re excited to be working with CeraPhi. The relationship between the founders of CeraPhi and Fraser Well Management goes back several years, and we see this as a natural development of that ongoing relationship.” Mr Farrow added that the CeraPhi approach differs from conventional geothermal ideas by its proprietary technology, CeraPhiWell™ which uses a single well in a close loop environment, reducing risk and lowering costs whilst increasing efficiency in the development of deep geothermal systems.“Geothermal solutions can be off-grid and on grid, deployable almost anywhere and never dependent on the weather or the season.” Deep geothermal requires drilling to several thousands of metres into the subsurface to access temperatures more than 200°c. This is possible in many areas across the UK, he said.“But CeraPhi Energy’s focus is on heat transfer and the geothermal ‘cascade’. The proprietary CeraPhiWell™ draws heat from the ground at lower temperatures to create efficient off-grid energy solutions like heating and cooling for cities and districts, replacing high environmental impact electricity production.” “The cascade can also source hydrogen production, power distribution, desalination, battery charging, electric vehicle charging networks, food drying and green house agriculture.”In addition to the UK and the rest of Europe, Ceraphi and Fraser Well Management are excited to apply their break-through renewable energy collaboration in other markets, including the United States and Canada, where the combination of experience and technology will create new energy from repurposing old wells, saving millions, and creating nearly infinite energy.
